Fans of art rock band The Rakes watched them play a free gig in their adopted home city.
About 100 music-lovers gathered at HMV in Churchill Square, Brighton, for the one-off gig yesterday.
The band, who are famous for their trend-setting dress sense, were promoting their new single We Danced Together from their second album Ten New Messages, released next Monday.
The audience clapped as the band played six songs, which could be heard around the shopping centre.
Afterwards, fans lined up to have copies of their single signed.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed lead singer Alan Donohue had scrawled "Brighton rocks"
on his left hand, in homage to the city.
