My friend booked two tickets for us to see the film The Queen at the Connaught Theatre in Worthing last Wednesday. We were really looking forward to it.
To our surprise, in the audience was a young woman with a baby on her lap - no older than eight or nine months - which gurgled and shrieked (quite happily) throughout the film.
At one point, a lady in the audience called out ,"This is unacceptable.
We have come to watch the film!" On hearing this, the young woman took the baby out for a short time, but soon returned and jiggled the baby up and down on her lap.
I have nothing against babies, having had five of my own, but surely there is a time and place for them - certainly not at an afternoon showing of a film which was attended by many elderly people.
I would be interested to hear why the management allowed this to happen. The baby didn't scream or cry but its shrieks and gurgles did distract us.
