It is reassuring to know that Brighton and Hove has such a huge surplus of funds that it could afford to offer the nation's most costly couple a free trip to the seaside.
With so much cash spare, presumably we can now look forward to a council tax reduction - a great relief to all who have to work for a living.
The visit also gave foreign students in our city a golden opportunty to witness British comic opera at its best: Elizabeth's subjects swooning at a Royal handshake.
Hopefully, these students will report widely on their experience when they return home so that the world can one day overthrow its democratically elected heads of state and return to the feudal way of life we Britons so cherish.
