We were very disappointed with the decision of the children, schools and families committee to proceed with the proposed changes in the school admissions review despite the numerous serious concerns raised by parents and schools citywide.
Families in the Moulsecoomb, Bevendean and Coombe Road areas of the city are now to be denied any choice of secondary school. Historically, parents from these areas have chosen to send their children to many different secondary schools in the city.
This will no longer be an option under the new system. We very much regret that the committee did not agree to undertake further work on the rest of the proposals.
We wish to assure all families in the Moulsecoomb, Bevendean and Coombe Road areas that we will continue to support them in their fight for a more equitable system of allocations.
