A jury has heard how four homeless men were arrested and charged following the murder of a Brighton street drinker.
Andrew Stanley was uncooperative and had to be handcuffed before he was put into a police van, Hove Crown Court heard yesterday.
Stanley was arrested following the discovery of Terry Hannaby's body on September 4, last year.
Homeless alcoholic Hannaby, 34, died after he was allegedly kicked and stamped on during an attack in Bartholomew Square, Brighton.
A second man, Gareth Russell, was later arrested in Brighton.
Decan Mallon was also arrested in connection with the murder, along with a fourth suspect, Anthony Griffiths.
Mallon told officers: "Hannaby overdosed on heroin and booze."
Mallon was finally charged with Hannaby's murder on October 30.
The prosecution alleged that DNA and fingerprint evidence linked all four men to the scene.
Stanley, 40, Russell, 25, Mallon, 38, and Griffiths, 33, all of no fixed address, deny murder.
The trial continues.
