Little Miss Sunshine is an intelligent, fun, feel-good movie, the sort of film we should see more of.
The film has a simple enough plot, a dysfunctional family's journey to enter their daughter in a beauty pageant. However, with this simple plot come great characters, a fantastic script and equally as impressive acting.
It mixes witty black humour with heavy doses of sarcasm.
Greg Kinnear and Toni Collette work very well as the struggling parents, and Steve Carell as a suicidal, gay teacher grows from strength to strength throughout the film.
All in all, this is a thoroughly enjoyably film that doesn't take itself too seriously and should be enjoyed for what it is - a nice story, told very well.
