The clatter of the pins as the ball strikes can be a thrilling sound when you're competing with friends at the local bowling alley. How would it sound though after 12 hours?
That was the reality for a group of bowlers at the Bowlplex at Brighton Marina over the weekend as they took part in a marathon bowling competition, or as they termed it a bowlathon.
The ten were raising money for the Chestnut Tree Children's Hospice in Worthing.
Brian Parker, 46, of Havelock Road, Brighton, said: "So far we have raised about £5,000 in total over the last four years we have been doing this.
"For this year's total e are aiming for about £1,300."
