It’s good to see that my old friend Trevor Alford still takes a keen interest in Portslade (Letters, April 3).
I can reassure him that, if lucky enough to be elected as a councillor, I will be totally committed to serving the local community of North Portslade and Mile Oak.
That is why I have been knocking on doors since February 2014 as I firmly believe people should have a chance to meet the person who is asking for their vote.
Where I disagree with Trevor, however, is when he suggests that involvement in local politics should somehow stop you from having concerns about issues such as the NHS and the economy – that is suggestive of some type of censorship.
It’s also slightly misleading to say I am an NHS “lifer” as I initially worked as a Customs Officer when I left school at 16.
I am, however, proud to have worked in the NHS for 35 years both as a general nurse and a mental health nurse and feel privileged to have been allowed into peoples’ lives across those years.
