Twice in the past week Clarence Mitchell, Tory parliamentary candidate for Brighton Pavilion, has said the city faces huge challenges after years of ideological but administratively naïve Green rule often supported by Labour.
However, it is a fact that the Tories have supported the Greens on all their major projects.
One only has to think of the i360 and Valley Gardens, both supported by the Greens and the Tories but opposed by Labour.
In fact, the Greens appreciated the Tories’ help so much that at the last full council meeting, Green councillor and transport lead Ian Davey publicly thanked his Tory counterpart, Graham Cox, for all his help and support over the past three years.
He never thanked me or any other Labour members of the transport committee.
This all goes to show the Tories will never let the truth stand in the way of a good soundbite.
Councillor Alan Robins, South Portslade ward
