A digital agency has been chosen to design the website of the Brighton i360.

Brighton-based Tilt came up against stiff competition to design the website of the world’s tallest moving observation tower when it opens next year.

The digital experts have previously worked with South Downs National Park Authority, Visit Brighton, Brighton and Hove Albion, Fatboy Slim and Theatre Royal Brighton.

Managing director Jon Malyon said: “As a Brighton firm, this was a project we really wanted to be part of.

“The i360 is going to be really positive for the city and it is brilliant to be able to play a part in that.

“It was one of those opportunities that does not come around very often.

“We are delighted to be partnering the i360.”

Tilt, based in New England Street, has about 20 full-time staff and a network of freelancers.

Other companies working with the i360 include Thomas and Trotman Design, based in Brighton, which created the imagery on the construction site hoardings, helping inform people about the scale and design.

Thomas and Trotman is now developing the i360’s brochures for corporate events and weddings.

Brighton-based The Ideas Factory Digital has been commissioned to create a teaser video for the new i360 website and social media.

This will feature icons such as the Royal Pavilion, Brighton Pier, the Band Stand and South Downs.

Eleanor Harris, chief executive of the i360, said: “Brighton is now one of the leading digital hubs in the UK and so we are excited to work with a talented Brighton-based agency.

“We had an overwhelmingly positive response with around 50 expressions of interest from Brighton digital firms and submissions from nearly 30 businesses wanting to work with us.

“In the end Tilt was the obvious choice. Their enthusiasm for the i360 and creativity really shone through. We want a website which successfully portrays our cutting-edge design and also the unique i360 visitor experience, from the beautiful views to the i360 wedding venue, brasserie, exhibition and soft play area."

The new website is due to go live in May.
