HUNDREDS of black body bags will wash up on Brighton beach tomorrow morning as a protest at the growing migrant crisis across the Mediterranean.
Amnesty UK has said hundreds of body bags will appear on Brighton beach to highlight the UK’s “shameful response” to the rapidly escalating migrant crisis ahead of an emergency meeting of EU leaders on Thursday.
Amnesty supporters will be zipped into some of the bags in front of Brighton Wheel from 10am tomorrow.
On Thursday, David Cameron will attend an emergency summit of EU leaders in Brussels to discuss a response to the crisis which saw an estimated 900 people die as their boat sank off the Libyan on Saturday night.
Kate Allen, Amnesty UK Director, said: “Until now, the UK Government’s response has been shameful but finally they have been woken up to the need to act.
“EU governments must now urgently turn their rhetoric into action to stop more people drowning on their way to Europe.”
