Schoolchildren raised more than £3,000 by taking part in a sponsored read.
Pupils from Windlesham School in Dyke Road, Brighton, spent hours working their way through a wide range of books in a bid to raise as much as they could.
The money raised will go towards buying new books for the school library as well as the charities Crossover Brighton and the City Mission in Brighton and Hove, which both support the needy and homeless.
The fundraiser was also held to encourage a love of reading among pupils with prizes being given to students from Reception to Year 6.
