PIANO teacher Lorraine Bowen hit the right note with Britain’s got Talent judge David Walliams to make it to the show’s live finals.

The 53-year-old from Brighton played a keyboard on top of an ironing board as she sang her track The Crumble Song on Saturday night’s show.

The song includes the lyrics “Everybody’s good at something and I’m good at cooking crumble.”

Ms Bowen quickly got three no votes from judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden.

However she continued her act to wild cheers from the audience before Walliams pressed his golden buzzer.

This means Ms Bowen will be fast-tracked to the live semi finals without having to go through the selection process.

Walliams, who lives in Hove, joined Ms Bowen on the stage after her performance, telling her she was brilliant and that Simon should listen to the response of the audience.

Speaking after the show, Ms Bowen said she wanted to buy Walliams a drink to say thank you and was planning to take her act to a whole other level when the live shows began.

She said: “I was concentrating so hard on what I was doing, I didn't even notice when Simon and the girls pressed their buzzers. It didn't register at all.

“Then I looked up after my DJ-ing section and saw David standing up conducting the whole audience - I was completely elated. I think I hit a high note that I've never even sung before.

“It was just amazing, I couldn't believe he spent his golden buzzer on me. I felt like Willy Wonka. But what I’d really love is to take David Walliams out for a pint of beer, and say 'thank you very much.”

Ms Bowen, who has been writing songs her whole life and is a regular performer, also works part-time as a singing and keyboard teacher.

She also admits to being a fan of polyester and has been collecting vintage polyester clothes since she was a teenager.

Ms Bowen joins Simon Cowell's golden buzzer pick Callum Scott, Ant and Dec's dance act pick Boyband, Amanda Holden's gospel choir Revelation Avenue and Alesha Dixon's pick Entity Allstars.
