Commuters using Southern's infamous 07.29 service to London Victoria felt the effects of the newly introduced timetable - the train arrived on time.

The Argus exclusively revealed in January the service which was due to arrive in the capital at 08.35 each weekday was late every day last year.

The service - dubbed the train of shame - arrived for the first time ever on Wednesday May 6, seven days before the service was re-timed.

When the new summer timetable came into place this morning, the re-timed service arrived in London at platform 13 two minutes early.

However this is still one minute later than it was expected to arrive under the old winter timetable.

Southern's new summer timetable sees the service no longer call at Wivelsfield and instead arrive in the capital at 08.38.

Many commuters using the service believe Southern have moved the goalposts in order for the rail operator to hit punctuality targets.
