THIEVES cut through hedges in fields with chainsaws to steal sit-on lawn mowers from a garden centre.
Garden machinery specialist Godfreys was raided between 5.30pm on Thursday [May 14] and 6.45am on Friday [May 15] and five John Deere X590 petrol lawn tractors and a 42-inch cutter deck were taken.
Police think a gang came along Hackhurst Lane to the business on the A22 at Lower Dicker and cut through hedges in fields with chainsaws to take the machines away.
PC Peter Clarke said: "Godfreys is on a busy stretch of road so I would ask anyone who saw anything suspicious while travelling on it during the time of the incident to contact us.”
