A MAN was knocked unconscious when he tried to break up a fight near a bar.
The 21-year-old man was repeatedly punched and kicked during the assault and knocked to the ground at about 2am on Sunday in the High Street near Coco Lounge in Littlehampton.
He was knocked unconscious and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Detective constable Lee Simmonds said it was fortunate the victim was not seriously injured in such a “nasty assault.”
He said: “We know there were a number of people in the area when this happened and we are appealing for witnesses to come forward.”
An 18-year-old man from Littlehampton was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, a 21-year-old Bognor man was arrested on suspicion of assault and a 38-year-old woman from Littlehampton were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. They were all released on bail until 15 July.
