Albion fan Kevin Clarke has been crowned winner of a national football pundit competition.

Kevin, 46, from Worthing, is the winner of the Carlsberg People's Pundit - a nationwide search for the UK's next big football punditry star.

Kevin has appeared on talkSPORT radio in recent weeks tasked with different challenges as part of the competition.

And thanks to votes from the general public, Argus readers and fellow Albion fans, plus the thumbs-up from Sky Sports star Jeff Stelling, former Arsenal and England player Ray Parlour and talkSPORT's Mark Saggers, Kevin was crowned winner on live radio last night.

As his prize, Kevin will now report live on talkSPORT with Ian Danter at this weekend’s Stoke v Liverpool game.

Judges said of Kevin's win: "The People's Pundit Competition was launched earlier this year, designed to give one fan their big break on talkSPORT. After contestants initially uploaded their entries via YouTube, or through a van that toured Premier League stadiums, our pundits were put through their paces at regional events throughout the country.

"Kevin emerged as the winner of the southern regional heat and competed with four other pundits in a series of challenges broadcasted live on talkSPORT (including interviewing Gus Poyet) before being crowned champion.

"He delivered the most consistent work across all the challenges, and was was prepared to go the extra mile at all times, whether that was discussing Liverpool with the Drivetime team or getting a cracking interview with Gus Poyet on the win at all costs mentality in South American Football.

"Kevin was also very proactive in driving his vote figures up by engaging work colleagues, local media and Brighton football club, and all that helped him get the nod in a contest that, at times, seemed too close to call."
