A THREE-YEAR-OLD boy was taken to hospital after a hit and run.

The child was struck by a silver car as his mother was about to put him into their car opposite the park in Elphinstone Road, Hastings, just before 2pm on Saturday. [16/5] He was knocked to the ground and was taken to Conquest Hospital in St Leonards with a fractured ankle as well as cuts and bruises to his arms, legs and shoulder.

The driver, who was travelling northbound, did not stop.

PC Barry Freeman said: "It could be that the driver of the silver car did not know he or she had struck the boy and does not know that he was hurt.

"The road had parked cars on either side and vehicles were having to give way to each other so the driver may not have seen the boy but we need to track them down so we can find out what they know.

"If you were in Elphinstone Road or the area around it and saw or heard anything that could help us, please get in touch."
