WHY are we spending £480 million on the Royal Sussex County Hospital in its present position?

How the ‘intelligent’ people at the top can think that what they are doing will make this dogs dinner of buildings ever be any good, beggars belief.

I have no complaints about the staff as I have been visiting this hospital for 15 years for cancer treatment, twice, dialysis and recently cardiac problems.

When you are ill and unable to walk far the access is abysmal. It is built on the side of a steep hill and no amount of money will ever make the site suitable for a hospital.

One small change recently was to install new ticket machines in the car park.

Before, when you left the car park, you couldn’t, without car juggling, drive to the exit, put your ticket into the machine and leave without getting out of your car to reach the ticket slot.

Guess what, you still can’t. Also in the fortnight they have been in, they have broken down twice.

Does this bode well for the rest of the project?
