Scores of charity fundraisers tackled a pier-to-pier walk to raise thousands of pounds for youngsters fighting life-threatening illnesses.

The second annual ‘Walk for William’ fundraiser saw dozens of people walk from Brighton’s Palace Pier to Worthing Pier on sun-drenched Saturday.

Cash was being raised for Tyler’s Trust - a local charity that supports Tyler Ellis, 16, who is battling a brain tumour, and other youngsters with similar conditions across the south.

The charity provides gift boxes for children with life-threatening illness in the Chichester, Worthing and Portsmouth areas.

The original ‘Walk for William’ fundraiser was named after William Pedersen – a five-year-old Worthing boy who is also battling a brain tumour.

William’s mum Gemma told The Argus: “It was truly an amazing day surrounded by amazing people. I’ve been so overwhelmed by the generosity of people. I think we’ve raised around £3,000.

“We all came together to support a really fantastic charity that’s doing their bit to put a smile on the faces of inspiring children, who are going through bad times in their lives.

“I can’t wait to do it all again next year.”
