A SERIAL love rat is on the run from police after allegedly stealing money from a woman he had started a relationship with.

David Kean, 43, started a relationship with Laura Mitchell after meeting her through the online dating site Meet Me using the name David Campbell.

Ms Mitchell, 44, alleges that Kean began to ask to borrow money from her in April, and then disappeared after she loaned him £50.

After contacting police, Ms Mitchell discovered Kean was on the run from police forces across the UK for cases of fraud.

It is not the first time the stocky Glaswegian has tricked his way into the lives of women and stolen from them.

In 2010 he was jailed for eight months when vanished the jewellery and other items worth £1,860 of Eastbourne woman Laura Priestman.

Now Sussex Police is hunting the Lothario for thefts in Eastbourne as well as the alleged theft from Ms Mitchell in Scotland.

Kean is known to have targeted women across the UK, including in Derbyshire and Sunderland.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police via email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting serial 6 of January 6.
