BMX enthusiasts took a tour around Brighton and Hove to mark the launch of a new group.

Friends Kevin Bentman and Pat Larkin set up Brighton Riders BMX for anyone along the south coast with an interest in BMX bikes.

Around 50 cyclists left Brighton Marina on Sunday at 11am and cycled to Hove Lagoon.

After a short pit stop they travelled to the Palace Pier and then towards The Level where a skate park competition was taking place at 3pm.

Mr Bentman, 38, of Mile Oak, said: “We started the group for anyone with a passion for BMX.

"It’s fun and gets youngsters involved as well as older people who enjoy classic BMX and want to re-live their childhood.

"We set up the group a month ago and already have 160 members – it’s really taken off.”

The group’s next ride is on Sunday, July 19, meeting at Eastbourne train station from 11am.

The event will involve a ride along the seafront to the Sovereign Centre to take part in the Eastbourne Extreme Show 2015.
