At a meeting after the election, Caroline Lucas said there needs to be more co-operation between the opposition parties now that the Conservatives have won a majority and can pursue their austerity agenda without any restraint.
As reported in Friday’s Argus one of her Green colleagues, Councillor Alex Phillips, recently emailed Green Party members saying she was ‘up for causing havoc’ as far as the city council is concerned now that it is led by Labour.
She’s the deputy leader of the Green group on the council, and experienced – elected six years ago.
There are no elections for a long time and the council and its services are at the mercy of Tory cuts.
If she can’t support our city in a mature way and put political differences aside in the face of huge challenges, she should think again about being on the city council.
I hope her colleagues share Ms Lucas’s views and aren’t saying one thing in public and another in private.
