Workers at a firm which refuels aircraft at Gatwick airport are to be balloted for industrial action in a row over union recognition, it was warned today.
The Transport and General Workers Union said its members at Gatwick Refuelling Services would vote on whether to launch a campaign of action after the failure to agree a voluntary deal.
TGWU official Kevin Hall said: "Our members at Gatwick Refuelling Services are clear that they want to have their union formally recognised for the purposes of negotiations on the whole range of issues affecting them in the workplace.
"Such is their determination they are prepared to vote on strike action to pursue their claim."
