I agree with Bishop John Hind (The Argus, March 24). The Church is more about people than buildings. So how can the Church of England be so wrong about those who worship at St Peter's Church in Brighton?
The campaign to keep St Peter's open is about the community it serves.
St Peter's has not been the same since Canon Dominic Walker left ten years ago.
Since then I have to say that St Peter's has not had anything like a similarly dynamic priest who offered the same leadership.
The fact is the congregation at St Peter's is offering its own leadership in spite of the priests, and many of those offering this leadership are women.
The crux of the matter is to do with the future of the Church of England. What motive can there be for it to destroy the community at St Peter's other than because, as Bishop Hind says, he is "not ultimately too interested in the future of the Church of England".
