Thank you for the article about our service in celebration of marriage (The Argus, March 26).

I would like to clarify a few points. The service at St Peter's on April 21 was suggested by the Mayor, Councillor David Smith, who will attend with the Mayoress, Mrs Pat Smith. They were married at St Peter's, as was their daughter, who we hope will also attend.

The service is not to reconfirm vows but is a celebration of marriage. The bells will be ringing and the choir and congregation singing. The service will start at 3pm but it is hoped people will arrive by 2.30pm, bringing with them any photographs of their marriage, which will be put on display.

The service will last for approximately 45 minutes, after which the mayor will host a reception.

The congregation is very keen to contact as many couples as possible, in the hope that they or surviving widows and widowers will be able to attend, together with their families, and other couples not married at St Peter's but who are keen to thank God for their marriage.

If you would like to attend, please call St Peter's on 01273 676051 or email office@stpeters churchbrighton.org.uk, leaving contact details and, if you were married at St Peter's, the date.
