I read with interest your Letters page on March 29.

First we had the sad news that yet another local amenity, the Gardner Arts Centre, is being left to rot for lack of local funding - file under Black Rock Lido, West Pier and Peter Pan's Playground.

Then we had the Peter Pan fantasy land our local officials inhabit.

I speak of their current "project of the month", the euphemistically titled rapid transport system.

This project, you will recall, has had huge sms of council taxpayers' funding pumped into it already in feasibility studies and grand plans drawn up by the best design consultants money can buy.

So when all the dust has settled, what can the residents of our "brand new city" look forward to in relation to their investment? A monorail service? Trams, such as those which currently grace the Croydon area?

Or the return of trolleybuses?

No, all this time, effort and money has gone into restoring what we used to call a non-stop bus.

In the words of the great Irish bard Sir Terence Wogan, is it me?
