A new chief executive has started work at a cat welfare charity.
Peter Hepburn, from Brighton, joins Cats Protection at its National Cat Centre near Haywards Heath.
He has more than 22 years of charity experience from organisations including Christian Aid, Stonham Housing Association, York St John University and most recently Victim Support.
Mr Hepburn, 56, said: "I have enormous respect for the huge amount of work that volunteers and staff carry out to look after cats.
"Cats Protection is an organisation that can be justly proud of its work and I'm delighted to be part of it."
Mr Hepburn is keen to build on the links Cats Protection has with other animal welfare organisations.
He became a cat owner when he bought his first home and has had two Cats Protection cats in the past.
Heather McCann, chairman of Cats Protection, said that Mr Hepburn's broad experience would stand him in good stead to lead the charity.
