With reference to your article about the dangers posed by overcrowding in Brighton Station (The Argus, March 22), I think the following improvements would help: The restoration of platform nine on the east side of the station, with gates directly to the car park, pickup area and the new pedestrian routes which will eventually lead down to the New England Quarter.

A new footbridge over the throat of the station to ease transfer between West and East Coast routes, now there are no through services reversing in platform three. This could also be linked to New England Road.

Delays in getting into stations, especially termini, are the worst feature of our railways, so I would also suggest the restoration of the southbound loop platform at Preston Park.
