I used to work as finance officer for a voluntary sector operation in Brighton and Hove which received modest funding from the South East England Development Agency (Seeda) for work in deprived areas.
My experience of commercial accounting audits stretches over 50 years and I have never encountered a more stringent auditing regime than that on the funds provided by Seeda.
For every item of expenditure, however small, a document had to be provided with fully detailed explanations. The organisation was extremely pedantic.
To now hear the chairman and chief executive have used funds for extravagant expenditure beggars belief (The Argus, March 31). I hope they produced all the receipts for the taxi fares.
