Neighbours are campaigning to have windows removed from a block of flats because they believe their privacy is being invaded.

The developer of the three-storey block at 14 Dorothy Road, Hove, near Portslade Station, had permission to install Juliet balconies and windows on the ground and first floors.

But CLC Properties, of Hughes Road in Brighton, also put the windows on the top floor, which overlooks neighbouring homes.

It is now applying for retrospective planning permission, via agent PRP Architects, of The Green in Hove.

John Matthews, 60, of Gladys Road, is calling for the council to reject the bid. He said: "It really invades our privacy. It is overbearing having these door-type windows. We want to get rid of them. We don't see why the builder should decide what is convenient for him."

A spokesman for Brighton and Hove City Council said: "Owners proceed with any work at their own risk. Anyone altering a property without the right permission can be made to undo the work or face prosecution to enforce this."

No one from CLC or PRP was available for comment.
