SIX people were injured after a serious accident which closed a busy road.
Two cars crashed on the A22 just south of Wych Cross just after 4.15am today.
The southbound carriageway was closed after the collision which left two people trapped in one car and a further four people were injured.
The accident happened between the A275 Lewes Road (Wych Cross) and Crowborough Road (Nutley).
Two fire crews used hydraulic cutting gear to cut through the door framework and take off the roof of one car. They lifted out an elderly woman and gave her oxygen therapy until paramedics arrived.
An air ambulance was called along with a road vehicle.
The road was fully reopened by 7am.
