A LEADING news presenter has recorded an inspirational video message for graduating students.

Channel 4 News anchor Jon Snow offered “massive congratulations” to graduating students at the University of Sussex in a specially recorded video.

The Ardingly-born journalist was made an honorary Doctor of Letters by the university last week at their summer graduation ceremonies by the head of the university's school of global studies Professor Andrea Cornwall.

He told students in the video: “You have achieved something I never achieved.

“I was done out of my degree because I got involved in politics.”

He also told students that they had a “wonderful future” and a “great past” having studied at the Falmer-based university.

He said: “Sussex University was a fantastic place to be.

“I wanted to be here but they didn’t want me, my A-levels were not good enough.”

He ends the minute-long video with a heartfelt bit of advice.

He said: “The world is your oyster, so crack it. So get on, love each other, enjoy and give back.”
