A SERVICE that helps older people preserve their independence celebrated its 35th anniversary.
Almost 200 people, including the mayor, trustees, members and their families joined the party at the Somerset Day Centre in St James's Street, Brighton.
Members Margaret Churcher and Barbara Cribbs were among those enjoying the sunshine at the celebrations.
Director Jules Dienes said: "It was a fantastic turnout and everyone had a wonderful time.
"We provide services to older and more vulnerable people, up to 23 people a day.
"We encourage independence and help people to access other services and make sure they are getting the right benefits.
"We want to help people generally with their confidence and mobility."
