Insp Curry said: "It is what we call the 'cuckoo effect'.

"A group moves in and puts pressure on neighbours - using intimidation and violence to make their lives hell.

"25 people went out in the street after the raid and were absolutely delighted. Their lives had been made hell."

A neighbour said the group had harassed female friends came around to visit and had scared her two sons aged eight and three.

She said: "I am so relieved that something has happened.

"I did not want those people near my children - my three-year-old was absolutely petrified of them.

"It was getting worse and worse - beyond a joke."
