I have lived in Brighton since 1955 and, in recent years, have become increasingly concerned that workers key to the welfare of our city can no longer afford to buy homes in Brighton.

However, I completely agree with the views expressed by Vicki Davies (Letters, April 17) as to why the Brighton Marina development is not suitable for "affordable housing".

I fail to understand how Brighton and Hove City Council can put aside the Act of Parliament which was passed to prevent the erection of buildings at the marina higher than the cliff top.
