A WOMAN was subjected to a prolonged rape in a public garden before her attacker peddled away on a bike.
A man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a woman in the Sunken Gardens, Waterloo Square, Bognor Regis in the early hours of Saturday.
The 26-year-old victim was subjected to a prolonged assault by a man at around 2am, who is then believed to have left the area on a pedal cycle.
A 42-year-old man from Bognor was arrested on suspicion of rape later that evening. He has been released on police bail until November 28.
Detective Sergeant Alan Fenn said: "We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this rape.
"Witnesses are still urged to either email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting reference 0168 of 03/10."
