A football tournament is taking place this week to mark World Mental Health day.
Teams from Sussex and across England are taking part in the six-a-side Mental Health Awareness tournament at the Sussex County FA Headquarters in Culver Road, Lancing.
The event tomorrow has been organised by Albion in the Community (AITC), the official charity of Brighton and Hove Albion.
It is being supported by American Express’s Healthy Living internal staff employee wellbeing programme and by employees from its Realise the Potential of the Community programme.
American Express volunteers will be helping with logistics on the day and refereeing matches alongside AITC coaches.
The 150 players taking part are involved in AITC’s mental wellbeing football sessions and are from community schemes across England.
AITC community sport manager Paul Brackley said: “ The benefits of physical activity for mental health are well known and sport has been used to support people with mental health problems for some time.
“An event like this is important in encouraging positive discussions about mental health and breaking down barriers and stigma often associated with it.”

World Mental Health day is on Saturday.
