"Come on you sex kitten!" a woman called out to the singer striding on stage for the final night of his UK tour.

Bryan Ferry proved he is still the coolest man in music at the age of 70 as he treated Brighton to a polished set which seamlessly mixed last year’s sophisticated Avonmore with classics from 1985’s Boys And Girls and then moved into full on Roxy Music mode.

There were some crowd pleasers early on with Slave To Love and Smoke Gets In Your Eyes promising musical delights to come.

After grabbing a harmonica for Dylan cover Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright, and playing keyboard on More Than This, Ferry and his ten-strong posse of talented musicians and singers pulled out all the stops for game changer Virginia Plain.

It not only prompted the audience to jump to its feet for the rest of the gig, but also had the effect of making Ferry seem taller, cooler and sexier than ever.

He may have allowed his characterful backing singers to take on some of the high notes early on in the gig. But Bryan’s husky croon seemed as robust and original as ever as he nailed Love Is The Drug and Do The Strand, crooned Jealous Guy and finished triumphantly with Editions Of You.

Glorious.
