Trading standards or double standards?
Is trading standards losing its independence? I only ask after reading the Buy With Confidence supplement (The April, April 28).
That confidence has to be called into question when trading standards is accepting revenue from companies to carry this "recommendation".
Trading standards is losing its credibility.
Moving on to the small print, it appears that while trading standards accepts a payment from its advertisers and gives them a Buy With Confidence logo, it then states: "The scheme cannot guarantee work will be satisfactory."
Sounds like double standards.
