Congratulations to Stuart Matthews, who has received £2,500 back from his bank due to excessive charges (Letters, April 26).

However, has he considered the fact that, over a period of at least six years, he has irresponsibly broken his contract with his bank many times, by ignoring the terms of that contract?

He may well have issued dozens of cheques which have not been honoured and had dozens of standing orders or direct debits not paid, causing problems for the payees.

However, I'm sure none of this would have been his fault. It never is.
