Unheralded by the media on the day of implementation, Equality Act (Sexual Orientation) Regulations 2007 came into force in England on April 30.
Why silence from the media?
Could it be that the word of the law now in force which makes it illegal to discriminate on the grounds of sexual orientation in the realm of provision of goods and services will actually abolish the gay scene?
Has the penny finally dropped that while it is now illegal to prohibit the entry of a transgendered person into a rough, dockers' pub in Liverpool, by the same law it is now illegal to prohibit entry of a rough docker into a drag performance in a Kemp Town gay bar?
Conjoin this with the forthcoming smoking ban and the question has to be asked: do these new liberal laws spark the end of the gay scene, and indeed the end of Gay Pride?
This gay man ponders.
