I want to say how much I agree with the letter from Mrs Johnson about the skate park (Letters, May 16). Why is it that the powers that be never listen to what the residents have to say? They just blindly carry on, oblivious to opposition or petitions. Witness the awful King Alfred design - not many people want it but, hey, Brighton and Hove City Council carries on regardless.

Perhaps this skate park should be dismantled. If it cannot be used properly then put this area back to how it used to be. It's a shame that the brainless few have to go and ruin it for those who go there to skate and have fun, but so be it.

This skate park has become a blight on the neighbourhood and something needs to be done.
