The computer games company behind the multi-million selling Buzz titles has pledged its future to Brighton, having moved into larger premises.

Relentless Software, which used to be based in Cheapside, now occupies 7,000 sq ft of prime office space in One Air Street in the city centre.

The office is twice the size of the firm's previous headquarters and will ensure the games developer uses Brighton as its base for the foreseeable future.

The company, which employs 45 people, is slowly increasing its headcount.

Development director Andrew Eades said: "The new building offers us great space in a great location.

We're in the heart of Brighton which is really important to all our staff, the views from the top floor balcony are spectacular.

"We firmly believe in providing an enjoyable working environment that is focused on productivity within a nine-to-five day. To date we've proved this works and that great, successful games can be made without a crunch."

David Amor, creative director, said: "We intend to be in the new offices for some time to come. We're looking to expand gradually and build on the reputation we've gained for producing innovative and social games."

Relentless is one of the pioneers of "social" gaming which usually involves simpler, multi-player games where the focus is on fun and player interaction.

Buzz! The Music Quiz, and Buzz!

The BIG Quiz have sold more than two million copies on PlayStation 2, in Europe, since 2002.

Relentless is now working on Buzz!: The Schools Quiz, based on Key Stage 2 curriculum and designed for use at home and in schools for six to 11-year olds.

The company, the world's second most successful independent developer according to this year's Develop 100 listings, is recruiting programmers, artists and other production staff for PlayStation 2 and 3 projects.

Brighton and Hove is home to several big players in the computer games industry, including games tester Babel Media; Climax Racing, now part of the Walt Disney Group; and Eurogamer.Net, Britain's leading publisher of video games websites.
