Huddled into the relaxing and meditative performance space, replete with cushions and lily pads, it became apparent that Brighton Buddhist Centre really were hosting the best of both.
It proved a night of relaxation and enjoyment as two international pianists teased our ears with their comparative representations of both classical and jazz melodies.
Heads were nodding and eyes were closed as the audience revelled in the sensual languid tones of this performance, in which we were taken on a journey with the two pianists, learning about their cultural influences and the history of both pianos, an experience enhanced by the two friendly chaps' humour, style and knowledge.
The calm and soothing atmosphere throughout the show stayed with me as I left the venue, along with the respect engendered by such talented musicians. A truly meditative evening.
