This opportunity to see the aspiring actors of the future did not disappoint in this showcase by second year acting students from Varndean College.
The first of the two short plays was more like a collection of loosely-related sketches and contained moments of pure hilarity (with the Chinese restaurant scene being my personal favourite), while also highlighting some of the problems faced by those growing up in Brighton.
However, the plot was, at times, difficult to follow and I was slightly baffled by certain characters breaking out into strange American accents at random intervals.
The second play took a more dramatic approach, and although the script was underdeveloped, making the character portrayals limited, the clearly accomplished acting shone through.
Overall, this was an impressive showcase from a group with great potential.
