A BRIGHTON mother swam her way into her fifties after she completed 50ks worth of cold water swims for a children’s charity.

Fiona England has been splashing her way through the waters of Britain and beyond to raise money for Amaze, a charity which offers support to parents and carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in Brighton and Hove.

She started in July and her aim was to complete the challenge by the time she turned 50 last Thursday.

Bad weather put her back a few days but she heroically reached her 50km off Brighton beach on Saturday morning cheered on by a crowd of well wishers, family and friends.

Fiona from Brighton, whose son Dan, 12, has Down’s syndrome, managed to raise £4,142 from her efforts which took her as far as the Danish coastline and through a variety of ponds, lakes and rivers.

She said: "I hope that by fundraising for Amaze I have helped in even a small way to draw some more attention to the great work that they do."
