A TOWN was treated to a weekend of festivities thanks to a number of different societies.
On Sunday afternoon members of Sussex’s bonfire societies paraded through Uckfield for their annual carol service at Holy Cross Church.
The parade started at 2.30pm in Harcourt Road and reached the church at 3pm where the effigy-burning residents from across the county were accompanied by Heathfield Silver Band and Uckfield Performance Ensemble (UPE).
The previous night, at the Holy Cross Church in Belmont Road, residents were treated to the annual Carol Service and it proved as popular as ever.
One audience member, Joan Wilcox, said: “Well, what a thoroughly enjoyable evening that was.
“Very well done to Uckfield Concert Brass and UPE - particularly liked Schneewaltzer.
“I think we, the audience, performed particularly well.”
