HUNDREDS of residents have signed a petition to keep their local post office.
More than 800 residents have signalled their opposition to franchise out Lewes Crown Post Office in the town’s High Street and potentially into a new shared location with a shop.
Crown post offices in Lewes and Bognor are among 42 directly-run branches at risk from newly announced proposals which could affect 14 Sussex-based staff.
Opponents complain the move is intended to sell off the valuable Victorian building of the Lewes branch.
