Police are still trying to trace the driver and vehicle involved in a hit and run in Hailsham on Tuesday.
A pedestrian sustained serious injuries following the incident, which occurred at about 6.40am in South Road.
Sergeant Richard Hornsey, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "This was an appalling incident that left an elderly lady lying in the road with significant injuries.
"From debris found at the collision site, we are looking for a Ford Fiesta or Ford B-max in Candy Blue, manufactured from 2012 onwards. The vehicle has damaged a wing mirror in the collision.
"If you know someone who drives a vehicle like this and could have been in the Hailsham area yesterday morning between 6 and 7am, please contact the investigation team on collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101, quoting Operation Image."
